What GSC Audit does

GSC Audit connects to your Search Console property and summarizes:
  • period-over-period changes (clicks, impressions, position)
  • quick-win keywords (ranking 2 to 5)
  • high impressions, low CTR opportunities (title and meta improvements)
  • search trends (keywords losing traffic)
  • cannibalization (one keyword ranking on multiple pages)
  • rank higher opportunities (pages stuck around positions 10 to 20)
It also provides AI suggestions and task-style actions you can execute.

Key sections explained

Period comparison

Shows change vs the previous period. Use this to detect:
  • sudden CTR drops
  • ranking movement
  • impression growth or decline

Strikers (positions 2 to 5)

These keywords are close to position 1. Common actions:
  • improve title tag
  • improve meta description
  • refresh content sections
  • add internal links
  • answer missing FAQs

High impressions, low CTR

These pages show on Google often but get fewer clicks than expected. Fix priority:
  1. title tag clarity and benefit
  2. meta description promise and specificity
  3. align title with intent
  4. avoid duplicate titles across pages
Keywords losing traffic often indicate:
  • outdated sections on the page
  • competitors updated content
  • SERP intent shift
Fix approach:
  • update outdated sections
  • add missing subtopics
  • update examples, dates, stats
  • strengthen internal linking

Cannibalization

One keyword ranking on multiple pages can reduce performance. Fix options:
  • merge pages if intent is the same
  • pick one primary page and redirect the weaker one
  • re-optimize pages to different intents
  • adjust internal links to point to the primary page

Rank higher opportunities (positions 10 to 20)

Pages that already have impressions and sit in the 10 to 20 range. These can jump faster than new pages. Fix approach:
  • expand content depth
  • improve internal linking from relevant pages
  • improve CTR, titles, and meta
  • add FAQs and clear headings
  • improve topical coverage for that keyword

Best practices

  • Start with 3 months for stable patterns
  • Fix strikers and low CTR first (fastest ROI)
  • Use search trends to decide what to refresh
  • Fix cannibalization at the template level if it repeats
  • Re-run audit after each fix batch to confirm improvement

Troubleshooting

Property is not showing

  • Confirm you are logged into the right Google account
  • Ensure you have access permissions in Search Console

Data looks empty or too small
